Lorentz force sigmometry: a new method for thermophysical property measurement in high temperature melts

We describe a new concept for the measurement of thermophysical properties in liquid metals which is particularly suitable to measure electrical conductivities. The method is derived from a contactless electromagnetic flow measurement technique introduced in [1] and offers several advantages over existing methods. We will describe the concepts and results of preliminary measurements and discuss how they could be further developed in future.
