Thermodynamic properties in copper-silver-galium liquid system determined from E.M.F. and calorimetric methods

Using E.M.F. and calorimetric methods the Cu-Ag-Ga liquid system was investigated.

E.M.F measurements were done using solid oxide galvanic cells with zirconia electrolyte. The E.M.F.'s of the cells

Cu(1-x-y) AgyGax, Ga2O3//ZrO2 + Y2O3// Fe, FeO ( I )

were measured in the temperature range from 1073 to 1323 K for two cross-sections and activities of gallium were determined for the alloys in this temperature range.

Next, the drop calorimetric measurements were carried along following cross-sections of the ternary system:

X(Ag)/X(Ga) = 1:1 at two temperatures 1123 K and 1223 K

and integral enthalpies of mixing of liquid ternary alloys were determined at those temperatures.

Experimental data were used to find ternary interaction parameters by applying Redlich-Kister-Muggianu formula for the description of liquid solutions.
