The ultrasonic velocities are extensively used to predict the intermolecular interactions in liquid -liquid mixtures[1,2]. Using the measured values of ultrasonic velocity (u) coupled with density (ρ) data, the thermodynamic parameters such as isentropic compressibility (kS) and intermolecular free length (Lf) can be determined. In the present work ultrasonic velocity and density of binary mixtures of ionic liquid with alkanol (Butanol, hexanol and octanol) have been measured using DSA-5000 (Anton-Paar), over the entire range of composition and in temperature range from 293.15 to 313.15 K. From these data, isentropic compressibility (kS), intermolecular free length (Lf), excess isentropic compressibility (kSE) and excess inter molecular free length (LfE) have been calculated. The results have been interpreted in terms of inter molecular interactions operating in the mixtures.
